Important Registration Updates

We are excited to announce that registration opens on August 4th!

Important Deadlines

  • Conditioning Registration: Closes on August 25
  • Tryout Registration: Closes on August 31
  • General Registration: Closes on October 1

Please note: Space in Conditioning is limited. In addition, players wishing to be considered for a competitive team must register for both the regular season and competitive tryouts. Registering for the regular season alone does not include registration for competitive evaluations.

Families are encouraged to review the Hockey Nova Scotia Seasonal Structure to better understand the timing of evaluations, team formation, and the season schedule.

Please ensure to register before the deadlines to confirm your participation. If you have any questions or require further details, feel free to reach out to the Registrar, Erin Madden, at registrar@whalers.org.
Fee Adjustments
As we prepare for the upcoming season, we want to provide context regarding this year’s registration fees. Like many minor hockey associations, the Dartmouth Whalers are facing significant increases in operating costs. Overall expenses are rising by approximately 14%, primarily due to higher ice rental costs in the Halifax Regional Municipality and rising insurance costs. Additionally, pay for officials and timekeepers is also increasing in alignment with other associations.

As a result, registration fees will increase by 7% to 9% (depending on the age level), which translates to just below $11 per month during the season. The fees for the 2026-2027 season can be found at the following link: 2026-2027 Fees

We understand that any increase in registration fees impacts families, and this decision was not made lightly. Our Board carefully reviewed the budget and worked to keep fees as affordable as possible while ensuring a safe, high-quality hockey experience for our players.

These rising costs are felt across the hockey community, and many associations have implemented similar, or larger, fee increases to address these challenges.

We recognize that hockey is a significant investment for families, and we remain committed to managing costs while providing the best possible experience for our players.

We look forward to another great season together.
