2023-2024 U11 Tryout Information

For the 2023-2024 Season, Dartmouth Whalers is projecting to host 3 competitive teams.  Based on our registration numbers for U11 and as mandated by Hockey Nova Scotia regulation 3.6, Dartmouth Whalers will be hosting two(2) U11 AA teams.   Our third team has not been confirmed yet, it will be at either the A or B level but this will be confirmed during the tryout process and based on the skill level of the players that are part of the process.

**NEW** this season is U11 will have 90 second timed shifts for all intersquad games

Our 2-deep volunteers will be in the dressing rooms 30 minutes prior to the scheduled ice time. Players will not be permitted into the dressing room before that time. We encourage players to come 45 minutes before their scheduled ice time to give our jersey volunteers time to distribute jerseys, but again, no players will be permitted into the dressing room until 30 mins prior.

U11 Exhibition Game #2 Rosters 

Good Morning U11 Parents, we apologize for the delay in getting the rosters not posted till now for tonight’s final exhibition games, we appreciate your patience.

U11 Exhibition Game 2 Rosters

Final Teams for U11 will be announced by Thursday morning no later than 8:00AM.  Players who are successful in being named as one of the 34 players for our 2 U11 AA teams are to report to a U11 AA balancing game.  This game will be an intersquad game with balanced rosters to do one final evaluation in order to finalize two balanced team rosters.

Players who are successful in being named to the third U11 Rep team, level of the team to be confirmed, these players will be contacted regarding their next ice time by Head coach once they are confirmed.

October 2, 2023 - U11 Exhibition Game Rosters - UPDATED WITH TIMES 

We have just found out that the order of Games for skill level of players for Bedford is different from our order and now need to change the times for both Group 1 and Group 3, we apologize for this late change but want to ensure our players are playing against like skilled player

PLEASE NOTE THESE GAMES ARE AT THE HRM 4 PAD IN BEDFORD ON GARY MARTIN DRIVE, NOT RBC.

Please see updated schedule below and note that Wednesday games will be the last games om the U11 tryout process before final team rosters are announced. Team rosters will be posted no later than Thursday morning. All players that are named to the U11AA level will then participate in an ice time Thursday evening @5:15 for a balancing evaluation session so balanced rosters for the 2 U11 AA can be finalized.

Good evening U11 Parents, we apologize for the delay in getting this rosters posted for Tuesday's ice time and appreciate your patience.  

Please note at the completion of  the U11 tryout process there will be 3 comptetitve teams announced, 2 - U11 AA and 1 U11 level to be determined (A or B)
The following is the break down of the total number of players that will be part of the U11 process

• Goalies -   8  for 6 spots
• Defense - 30 for 18 spots
• Forward - 53 for 27 Spots

September 14, 2023 - U11 2023 Tryouts Information and Schedule

At the bottom of this page you will find the U11 Tryout schedule for the 2023-2024 Season as well as a link to the groupings for the skills session.

Volunteer Signup for Tryouts U11 to U18 

We require volunteers to help out with check in for players, washing jerseys in between sessions as well as helping out with Two Deep in dressing rooms / ON Bench (MUST HAVE valid Criminal Record Check with VSC on file with Hockey Canada) If you would like to volunteer and have not already signed up please click on the below link to sign up to help.

Also please take a moment to review the DWMHA Tryout policy at the link below (Can be found on the Tryout Page under the Season Start up on the Main Menu). We will be also sending out more information later in the week regarding the tryout process so please keep a watch for it.

 A few things to note/ remember for your players:

• Players will be provided a jersey for each session that they will get when they check in and will pass in before leaving each session, please remind your player to turn the jersey in.
• Please ensure your Player is at the rink and checked in players will not be allowed to enter the dressing room until 30 minutes prior to ice time start.
• Please ensure your player has a water bottle, hydration is very important, and they will definitely require it.
• Players are to wear plain white or dark socks, Whalers / AtoMc games socks ONLY no spring / summer team socks.

It’s a fun time of the year but also a stressful time. To best support the players trying out over the next few weeks we ask all parents to keep the following in mind:

1.       Be supportive of the players who are trying out

2.       Support the evaluators by letting them evaluate with no interruptions and respect the rules of where spectators are allowed

3.       Have the player on time for each session

4.       Enjoy the day and be there to cheer all players on!

Also a few reminders for all spectators:

• For all Skill Sessions and Intersquad games, Spectators will only be allowed on the downstairs level at RBC for all Rinks (Pad A, B, and C)
• For Exhibition games in Rink C ONLY, spectators will be allowed to watch from upstairs. Spectators must sit in the designated area and must stay away from all evaluators. All other rinks, A & B, spectators will only be allowed to watch from the downstairs level, no spectators will be allowed upstairs.

 Tryout Schedule Important Notes:

The first ice time will be a skills session to evaluate the players. Players will be grouped by position. (please check grouping link below to verify your player is registered for tryouts)

September 12, 2023 - U11 AA/ A/ B Tryouts Update

For players that are signed up for U11 AA/A/B tryouts, information and the schedule for these tryouts will be posted hopefully later this week. Please note these tryouts do not start until Sunday September 24, 2023 and we are still working to confirm some of the times for the exhibition games that will be part of the tryout process. Our goal is to have this information posted and sent out as soon as details are confirmed.

For those new to the tryout process, we will be sending out more information later in the week regarding the process so please keep a watch for it.

Also when the schedule and first grouping list is posted, an email will also be sent out to all U11 parents. All lists going forward after that for the Intersquad and Exhibition Games will be posted on our website on this page. Once posted it will also be shared to our social media pages, so please keep watch there as well. PLEASE NOTE, no lists will be emailed out after the first initial email when schedule is announced, only changes to schedule will be emailed out.
